1. Definition

Exemption is granted to a person legally married to a bona fide Fiji citizen to enter and reside in the country without the necessity of obtaining a permit. Authority is under Section 9(1) of the Immigration Act, 2003 and Section 16 of the Constitution.

 

2. Requirements

New

  • A letter of request from the Fiji citizen spouse.
  • Certified copy of the marriage certificate.
  • Proof of spouse’s Fiji citizenship (e.g. bio-data page of passport, birth certificate, Certificate of Naturalisation etc).
  • Certified copy of applicant’s passport (bio-data page).
  • Two (2) recent passport size photos of the non-citizen spouse.
  • Police reports for the applicant from the country of citizenship and/or residence where he/she lived for twelve (12) months or more in the last ten (10) years.
  • Medical report of the non-citizen spouse conducted within three (3) months or less from the date of application.

Extension

  • A letter of request from the Fiji citizen spouse.
  • Certified copy of applicant’s passport (bio-data page).
  • Two (2) recent passport size photos of the non-citizen spouse.
  • Local Police report (attach receipt only)
  • Certified copy of Previous Exemption Permit
