1. Definition

Exemption granted to a former Fiji citizen to enter and reside in the country without the necessity of obtaining a permit. Authority is under Section 9(1) of the Immigration Act, 2003 and Section 16 of the Constitution.

 

2. Requirements

New

  • A letter of request from the applicant
  • Documentary evidence of any Fiji passport previously issued to the principal applicant.
  • Documentary evidence of any Fiji citizenship registration or naturalization certificate.
  • Documentary evidence in 2nd and 3rd bullet point above are to be certified by the Citizenship Officer when required.
  • Fiji birth certificate if applicable.
  • Certified copy of the applicant’s passport (bio-data) page.
  • Two (2) most recent passport size photographs of the applicant.
  • Police report for the applicant from the country of citizenship and/or residence where he/she has lived for twelve (12) months or more in the last ten (10) years.
  • Medical report conducted within three (3) months or less from the date of application.

Extension

  • A letter of request from the applicant
  • Certified copy of the applicant’s passport (bio-data) page.
  • Two (2) most recent passport size photographs of the applicant.
  • Local Police report (attach receipt only)
  • Certified copy of previous Exemption Permit
