Long Term Work Permit

IMPORTANT:

  • All applications are to be lodged online through the Immi Hub portal https://immihub.immigration.gov.fj/FIDPortal/welcome as per the checklist below
  • All payments are to be made online through MPAISA, Visa card, Master card
  • All updates on the application can be viewed through the portal
  • Dependents eligible for inclusion in this application are strictly limited to legal spouses and children under the age of 18. De-facto partners and children over 18 years of age who wish to reside with the principal applicant are ineligible as dependents. They must lodge an independent application for a residence permit under the co-extensive category.
  • Any documentation that requires an English translation must be translated and Notarized from their country of residence.
  • All updates on the application can be viewed through the portal
1. OVERVIEW AND DESCRIPTION

Summary: The NEW long term work permit refers to an employment that is for the duration of one (01) to three (03) years.


REQUIREMENTS

Criteria

  • The Ministry reserves all rights to acquire additional documents for further verification, as and when required
  • If a question is not applicable to you, please put N/A (Not applicable)
  • Under the Immigration Act 2003 Part 2 Section 5(4)(b) – Providing false information in this application can lead to imprisonment or a fine or both.

Conditions

  • Be medically fit to work/reside in Fiji
  • No adverse police record
  • Any applicant on short term work permit can apply for a New long-term permit while in the country
  • Any first-time lodgement of a New long term work permit, the applicant must be out of the country except for spouse of a Fiji Citizen
  • Checklist must be satisfied which is stated in 5 (b)
  • Validity: One (1) to three (03) years
2. WHO CAN APPLY (Who is eligible to apply?)
  • Applicant must be a person 18 years of age and over
  • Applicant should be a non-Fiji citizen
  • Applicant who holds a valid employment contract with a locally registered company
  • Applicant on a valid short term work permit
  • Spouse of a Fiji Citizen
3. WHO CANNOT APPLY
  • Applicants below 18 years of age
  • Applicants who hold a study, residence, investor or visitor permit
  • Applicants on Business Visitor’s Permit (BVP)
  • Prohibited Immigrants (PI) – Overstayers [Immigration Act 2003 Part 4
  • Section 13 (2)(a)] and Convicted Persons from any foreign country [Immigration Act 2003 Part 4 Section 13 (2)(e)]
4. REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION

Documents that must be gathered before starting the application:

  • National Police report for the applicant from the country of residence where he/she has lived for twelve (12) months or more
  • Employment contract
  • Project agreement

Employer

  • Company Project (Applicable for Construction sector)- Original and full project/contract agreement with relevant local authorities (applicable to construction industry) – must include the start date, end date, duration, valuation, defect period and signatures from both parties
  • Endorsement from relevant authorities
5. FEE STRUCTURE

Base Fee: Primary Applicant – FJD 650.05

Dependent Fee FJD 185.00 (per person)

Driver’s position
  • Authenticated International Driving License by the Notary Public/ Justice of Peace or the Commission of Oaths
  • Mandatory LTA full driving license and Defensive Driving Certificate to be submitted within six (06) months from the given permit to immi-permits_visa@govnet.gov.fj with permit number and applicant’s name as SUBJECT

  • Applicants on Business Visitor’s Permit (BVP)
  • Prohibited Immigrants (PI) – Overstayers [Immigration Act 2003 Part 4 Section 13 (2)(a)] and Convicted Persons from any foreign country [Immigration Act 2003 Part 4 Section 13 (2)(e)]
  • Work permit holders who have departed the country and their current permits have expired

  • Application fee to be accompanied by the completed application form; and
  • Applicant will be required to pay applicable Issue and Bond Fees once permit is approved.
Documentary Requirements – Educational Purpose
  1. Completed and signed Application Form.

  2. Certified copy of applicant’s bio-data page of passport.

  3. Two (2) certified photographs.

    • If accompanied by family members, proof of relationship is required.
      • Marriage Certificate (if legally married).
      • Birth Certificate (for children).
  4. Request letter from the employer, including:

    • Company profile/background.
    • Position Description.
    • Roles of the position.
    • Special requirements for the position.
    • Detailed justification for the need of the position.
  5. Police Report for the principal applicant (from the country of citizenship).

  6. Medical Report for the principal applicant.

  7. Curriculum Vitae (CV) with certified copies of academic qualifications and references for proof of work experience.

  8. Advertisement: ALL positions must be advertised (recently), except for Government Contract (include certified copy of Contract Agreement).

  9. Contract of Employment (to include employment period, position, and remunerations).

  10. Endorsement from relevant Authorities, including Ministry of Education and Fiji Higher Education Commission.

You Must:
  • Submit and adhere to as per documentary requirements
  • Complete prescribed Work Permit application form.
  • Submit photographs less than 6 months old, good quality color, full-face view of your head and shoulders and taken against a plain or light colored background;
  • Submit certified copies of all documents;
  • Also include your family member (spouse and children under 18 years) on the same form, if applying at the same time
  • Lodge application form to the nearest Fijian Immigration Office, Embassies, Fiji Consulate Offices or lodged online and
  • Keep a copy of your application and all attachments for your own record
Fees

  • Current Permit is still valid
3. WHO CANNOT APPLY
  • Applicants below 18 years of age

  • Applicants on Business Visitor’s Permit (BVP)

  • Applicants who were issued with religious work permit and have departed the country. They will need to apply under the New Religious work permit category.
