The Ministry of Immigration (“the Ministry”) remains committed to its mandate of providing efficient and effective immigration services by administering and enforcing relevant legislation to safeguard national security while contributing to economic growth.
As global mobility increases, Fiji has seen a rise in the entry of foreign nationals seeking opportunities to support the country’s economic development. The Ministry acknowledges the importance of attracting skilled professionals and workers to contribute to Fiji’s workforce and economy. However, compliance with immigration laws remains a key priority to ensure a well-regulated and secure system.
At present, the number of foreign nationals without a valid immigration permit is of significant concern. In light of this, all individuals who are currently residing in Fiji without a valid permit are strongly encouraged to take immediate steps to regularize their immigration status. This will help prevent any complications related to departure and future re-entry into Fiji.
Foreign nationals without a valid immigration permit are advised to seek assistance from the Department’s Border Control section via email at imm-border@govnet.gov.fj. The deadline to comply and regularize immigration status is 31st May 2025.
Furthermore, it is an offense under the Immigration Act 2003 to employ foreign nationals who do not hold valid work permits. The Ministry urges all employers to ensure compliance with immigration regulations and to refrain from engaging individuals who do not have the proper authorization to work in Fiji.
Failure to comply with these regulations will result in enforcement action against foreign nationals who do not hold valid immigration permits and do not take the necessary steps to regularize their status or depart the country in a lawful manner.
